Academic Achievement in the Weiser School District

Welcome to the Academic Achievement site for the Weiser School District! We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff seeking to become the “ highest achieving rural school district in Idaho ”. The links to this page will give you a brief look at the people and initiatives that form the foundation of our efforts to fulfill our district vision.

In light of the changing landscape in education statewide and nationally, the Weiser School District set about shaping a new strategic plan in the summer of 2002, just months after Congress enacted and President George W. Bush signed the reauthorization of The Elementary and Secondary Education Act , better known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 . The Idaho State Board of Education was also in the midst of implementing its own standards based systems of curriculum, assessments, and accountability when the Weiser Board of Trustees, school administrators, and teachers began discussions about how the district would respond to these initiatives in charting its own future course.

The result of these discussions was the development of an academic achievement plan that includes a challenging vision, a hopeful mission, based on a set of educational beliefs capturing the heart of what research says is most effective in creating conditions conducive to students learning and achieving at the highest levels. Revised in 2007, the plan includes four overarching goals and twenty one action steps needed to accomplish them.
